My visual art investigates the Chinese philosophical principles of Yin and Yang, duality, the exploration of positive and negative space, as well as personal commentary on community.  Process is important to the work, as multiple layers of brushwork within my paintings or wrapped steel wool in my mixed media work simulates the disciplined routine of a physical or spiritual practice, and personal discovery.  My poetry explores race, gender, and perseverance despite loss or other obstacles.
